the start
mubdi is born
we had discovered the words mubdi and مبدع, and we knew we had to do something with it.
to build a vision around it. a brand that could be anything at that point.
I wrote “mubdi” over and over on a whiteboard.
we wanted to see how it looked in our own hands.
somehow, unintentionally, a shape appeared that had arabic vibe. it wasn’t planned,
interesting, because the word mubdi is arabic, of course.
later, I sketched the arabic form: مبدع
from that moment the first logos were born.
taking it outside
after we found the word mubdi and created the first logos, it was time to take it outside.
not just telling close people around us anymore, we wanted the world to see it too.
so we created an online presence.
with excitement, we launched the instagram account @mubdiworld.
we shared it with friends, family, and creatives we knew online, and the response came quick.
people followed, reacted, asked questions.
funny thing is: nobody really knew what mubdi was.
neither did we.
but somehow, it already was something.
it just felt right.
the profile had nothing more than a logo and one simple line:
a positive human being who is created to create: mubdi.
and that was enough.
meanwhile, I wanted to make it even more visible.
I started printing stickers, handing them out, and sticking them up in random places.
some ended up on phones, laptops, notebooks, and street corners.
people didn’t know what it meant, but they liked the energy of it.
and that’s the power of mubdi.
it attracts. it connects.
because the truth is:
we are all mubdi.
you just have to start
after all the thinking and overthinking, it was time to start.
but where do you begin, when mubdi stands for creating and creating can be anything?
for a long time, I struggled with this.
I didn’t (and still don’t) want to limit mubdi to just one thing. creation has no boundaries.
I imagined everything: a chair, a plate, a bag, a bike, even a drink.
all of it made sense. it all felt mubdi.
and I still carry those ideas with me.
because in the world of mubdi: anything can exist.
just keep dreaming.
because it’s possible.
but you can’t do everything at once. something I still wrestle with daily.
the frustration came from wanting to start big, but realizing: you just have to start. anywhere.
the same night the mubdi logo was designed, I went to the first cheap t-shirt printing site I could find.
I ordered a oversized tee with a mubdi logo on it.
two days later, it was in my hands.
and that was cool.
it made sense to begin with clothing.
wearable pieces, something people can carry with them, just like the message of mubdi.
something that reflects who they are, what they stand for, how they feel.
this wasn’t just about starting a clothing line.
it was about starting a movement.
in this phase of doubt and brainstorming, I spoke to a lot of people.
one of them was Zain: my brother in life.
we’ve talked about everything for over 15 years, so naturally we talked about mubdi too.
he already knew this was something special and believed in it.
I’ve never really had one style or favorite brand, so it was time to make my own.
Zain, on the other hand, has always been into fashion, sneakers, styling and curating.
so we started working.
searching for the right production. testing samples.
trying different materials and manufacturers.
eventually, we decided on our first official item:
the creative beanie
