about mubdi

"mubdi" means creator in arabic.

with roots in africa, the word immediately felt like home: rich with culture, purpose, and identity.
we built mubdi from that feeling. the belief that by doing what we love, we can shape our own lives, and inspire others to do the same. we are all created to create.

it was somewhere in the middle of the night, early 2023.
I was staying at a day-one friend’s attic, just me and my thoughts in that quiet, dark space.
I wasn’t planning to start anything. no business idea. no brand name on a whiteboard. nothing like that.
but my mind wouldn’t stop spinning. like something was trying to come through.

just being on my iphone, I opened google translate.
for no reason other than curiosity, I typed in one word:
“creative”
I wanted to know what it meant in arabic.

and there it was: مبدع — mubdi
the word hit different.
it sounded powerful. calm. beautiful. and positive.
it carried something i couldn’t explain, but I felt it.

that night, in that attic, mubdi was born.
I didn’t know what it was going to be.
but I knew it was the beginning of something.
something unique. something new.

this is where it started.

when Nuh told me about the word he had found mubdi, it just clicked.
not because it sounded cool or looked good on a garment.
but because it felt like something I already knew.
like it matched a part of me that had always been there.

I didn’t need convincing.
it made sense from the start.
not just the name, but the idea behind it.
creating something from scratch. building it up piece by piece.
doing things our own way.

I didn’t step into this, I was already moving in the same direction.
mubdi gave it a name.
